Washington University student housing is located off campus on the Delmar Loop in St. Louis. The site design includes an expansive streetscape renovation and a series of integrated courtyards, a rooftop terrace and a pedestrian mews built above a parking structure. The landscape plays a fundamental role in connecting the student housing with the existing Delmar Loop neighborhood. The tree lined pedestrian mews runs from the busy retail area on Delmar Avenue to the adjacent residential neighborhood. Courtyards are used to abstract the regional landscapes of limestone bluffs, oak savannah and tall grass prairie and will provide for a range of diverse student activity. Stormwater is captured and cleansed through a series of highly visible rain gardens along the streetscape edge.
