Matt Langan
Technical Director

Matt was born and raised in the ridges and valleys of northeastern Pennsylvania, where he developed an appreciation of topography and the ephemeral qualities of the landscape. Matt holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Penn State University and relocated to New England to begin his professional career in 2006. Prior to joining STIMSON, Matt amassed over 15 years of experience in other Boston area firms, where he had focused on planning and implementing institutional and civic landscapes around the country - including new and refurbished public spaces at Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Duke University, Harvard Business School, Georgetown University, and the Lincoln Memorial Grounds at the National Mall. His work experience has ranged in typology, scale, and complexity from concept planning through detailed site design & implementation.

Matt’s work remains focused on revitalizing and improving the civic realm in both institutional and public environs. Matt is passionately interested in landscape performance, “harmonious topography”, and for expressing the integrity of materials through contemporary form and detail. He is particularly energized by translating complex challenges into clear and rational design solutions. In his role as Technical Director at STIMSON, Matt performs technical quality control reviews on our projects and provides guidance in the development and execution of craft detailing.
