Kevin Hartzell
Construction Observation Lead

Kevin is a native Ohioan and an associate in the Princeton studio. Inspired by his study abroad at the Czech University of Life Sciences-Prague, Kevin pursued a dual Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where his studio team was awarded a Massachusetts Student APA award for their work on the Holyoke Canalwalk. He is a Certified Ecological Restoration Professional administered by the Society for Ecological Restoration and holds a B.S. in Agriculture from Ohio State. He continues to teach design studios in the BSLA program and Stockbridge School of Landscape Contracting at UMass Amherst.

Kevin has over a decade of work experience in landscape construction and eight years as a landscape designer with a focus on wetland and riparian ecosystems, native plant communities, and ecological restoration on projects across New England. His interests range broadly across scales from the fine details of garden design, native plant communities, and the interface between landscape planning and urbanization. Outside of the studio you can find him identifying sedges or traveling on his trusted touring bike.
