Joshua Stevens
Landscape Designer

Josh joined STIMSON in 2021 after working as a landscape designer in the coastal sage and chaparral of Los Angeles, CA.  He received his Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture amidst the oak and white pine forests of Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.  His thesis investigated plant growth patterns, arboreta, and classification methods, and received a certificate of Merit in Excellence from the ASLA.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, where he encountered prairie ecologies while pursuing supplemental studies in classical languages and architectural history.

Josh grew up in the pine flatwoods and estuaries of northeast Florida and fervently believes in empathizing with the vegetal world. He is particularly interested in plant ethics, plant architecture, and cultivating design practices that elevate the concerns of vegetation. Outside of the studio, you can find him baking, knitting, and brushing up on Homeric Greek poetry.
