Landscape Designer | Planner
Ben is a landscape designer and urban planner who joined STIMSON’s Cambridge studio in 2019 after graduating with a Master in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to graduate studies in urbanism, Ben spent five years practicing landscape architecture in California and Virginia. Upon receiving a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture from Virginia Tech in 2013, Ben began working for the National Park Service as a landscape architect in Yosemite National Park, where he worked on a range of design, planning, preservation, and construction management projects. He eventually moved back to his home state of Virginia, where he worked as a designer at 3north, an interdisciplinary landscape architecture and architecture practice in Richmond. Through his work here he developed an interest in the overlap of planning and design, processes of community engagement, and the role of social, economic, and political systems in the design and development of the built environment. These interests brought him north to Massachusetts to study planning, where he stayed upon graduating to begin work at STIMSON.
